HANFORD — The Sierra Pacific boys tennis team has been on a roll. The team earned its fifth consecutive sweep on Tuesday and decisively defeated Granite Hills 9-0.

Sierra Pacific's No. 1 singles player JC Roa and No. 3 singles player Jackie Gong each won 8-0, while No. 2, 4 and 5 singles players only dropped four sets. No. 6 singles player Dillon Macias won by default.

The No. 1 doubles team of Roa and Gong easily won 8-2 and the No. 2 doubles team of Macias and Amitesh Nagavalli won 8-5. The No. 3 doubles team also won by default.


TULARE — The Lemoore softball team dropped its first game of the season against Tulare Union 6-1.

The Tigers (0-1) collected five scattered hits and picked up their only run in the top of the seventh inning when Sierra Phelps scored on a 4-3 groundout. Phelps was 2-for-2 on the day with two singles.

Tulare Union picked up a run in the third inning to break the scoreless game and then put up four more in the fourth. The team added its final run in the fifth.

Lemoore pitcher Ashtyn Lucas went the distance allowing six runs on 14 hits, but only three of them were earned. Lucas also had four strikeouts and walked none.

The Tigers will start the Bakersfield Driller Softball Tournament today with their first game against Chavez (1-3) at 12:30 p.m.
