FARMERSVILLE — The Sierra Pacific boys soccer team lost on the road to Farmersville 3-1.
Tuesday’s game had them trailing by two at halftime before forward Marco Sanchez scored in the 66th minute.
Gavin VanGronigen came close to tying the game when he hit the post in the 70th minute. Farmersville scored five minutes later to secure the win.
“We need to be getting into positive offensive positions more often,” Sierra Pacific coach Steven Soares said. “We play well defensively, but just haven’t gotten in sync in our offensive third.”
The Golden Bears fall to 2-5 on the season and have lost five of their last six games. They’ll continue on the road against Central Valley Christian (0-2-1) next Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
REEDLEY — The Sierra Pacific girls basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the season to come away with a 56-35 win over Immanuel on Tuesday.
Sierra Pacific (5-1) led 24-13 at halftime led by Hailey Leslie who led her team in scoring with 15 points.
Alana Roberts had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Janae Tolbert also had 10 points.
The Golden Bears head to Santa Barbara next Wednesday to start play in the Tournament of Champions. First up, they will face Lompoc — a Division 2 school — at 3 p.m.
REEDLEY — The Hanford boys basketball team earned a 61-59 victory on the first day of the 3rd Annual Andrew Bedoya Holiday Classic.
The Bullpups (6-3, 1-0 WYL) defeated Yosemite (2-5) and were led by Juaron Watts-brown’s game-high 26 points.
Hanford trailed 29-28 at halftime, but outscored Yosemite 18-12 in the third quarter. Entering the fourth quarter leading 46-41, they were able to close it out with some free throws down the stretch.
Two other Bullpups finished in double figures. Austin Serpa had 18 points and Karsten Gregory scored 13 points.
