PORTERVILLE — The Golden Bears won the second East Sequoia League mini tournament at Porterville Municipal Golf Course on Monday.
Sierra Pacific shot a team score of 225 over nine holes and finished 10 shots ahead of second-place Granite Hills (235). Strathmore finished in third with a 269, Lindsay scored 316 and Woodlake did not post a qualifying score.
Sierra Pacific No. 1 golfer Justin Fukano shot the low round for his team with a 39. No. 3 Chase Cromwell shot a 44 and No. 6 Myles Kelly shot a 46 to round out the top three. No. 2 Ean Santos shot a 49, No. 4 Matt Santos finished with a 56 and No. 5 Thomas Bell shot a 47.
It was the Golden Bears’ second ESL victory of the season after finishing in first on March 4 at Kings Country Club. Sierra Pacific led the way there with a team score of 236 followed by Granite Hills (254), Strathmore (290), Lindsay (304) and Woodlake (DQ).
Ean Santos shot a team-low 44, Fukano shot a 47, and Cromwell and Matt Santos each shot a 48. Bell and Kelly each finished with a 49.
HANFORD — Sierra Pacific remained perfect in the East Sequoia League with a 9-0 victory over Corcoran on Monday. The Golden Bears moved to 12-0 overall and 4-0 in league.
No. 1 Marco Diaz won his match 8-5, No. 2 Jackie Gong won 8-1 and No. 3 Jinqiao Lu won 8-7 (7-4). The last three singles players all won their matches 8-0. In doubles, Sierra Pacific won 8-1, 8-2 and 8-3.
The Golden Bears also took part in the California Tennis Classic last Friday where they went a perfect 3-0 in the rain-shortened tournament. They defeated De La Salle 2 (6-0), Buhach Colony (6-0) and Bakersfield (5-1) to win their bracket.
