REEDLEY — Lemoore eked out a 61-58 victory over Bakersfield Christian in their first game of the Immanuel Tournament of Champions on Thursday.

For the Tigers, it was their second win of the season after they defeated Tulare Western 67-59 on Nov. 21.

The tournament wraps up play today and then the Tigers travel to Hanford West for a game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Hanford West vs. Centennial

HANFORD — Hanford West dropped its season opener 59-57 to Centennial on Thursday at home.

The Huskies led 48-45 entering the fourth quarter, but were outscored 14-9. Hanford West also led 22-12 after the first quarter and 28-26 at halftime.

The Huskies (0-1) will take on Lemoore next Tuesday at home at 7:30 p.m.

Girls Basketball


VISALIA — The Bullpups secured their first victory of the season behind Sapphire Jones’ 22 points as they beat Independence 67-37 on Wednesday.

The game was their first of the Redwood Tournament and their first of the 2018-19 season. Hanford (1-0) led 24-14 after the first quarter and 40-23 at halftime. They outscored the Falcons in all four quarters.

Corin Camara was the second-leading scorer for the Bullpups with nine points and Michaela Young had eight points with a team-high four assists. Tinisha Edwards scored seven points, but made her presence felt on the glass with 12 rebounds.

The Bullpups then defeated Bullard for their second win of the season on Thursday. Edwards and Jones each poured in 16 points as Hanford edged out a 51-46 win.

Jones also led the team with eight rebounds, while Young added seven points and six rebounds and Alyssa Chapman had five points.

The Bullpups conclude the Redwood tournament today.

Hanford West

SELMA — Hanford West dropped its first game of the Selma ShootOut tournament with a 64-32 loss to Sanger.

The Huskies trailed 31-12 at halftime on Wednesday. They managed to outscore the Apaches 11-8 in the fourth quarter and it was the only quarter they put up double-digits in.

Hanford West will continue in the Selma ShootOut today.

The Huskies then earned its first win of the season on Thursday with a 48-38 victory over the Mendota Aztecs.

They led 12-6 after the first quarter and 23-19 at halftime. It was Hanford West’s (1-4) first halftime lead of the season. They built a 36-26 lead heading into the final eight minutes.


CORCORAN — The Tigers secured their second win of the season on back-to-back nights with a 61-42 victory over Wasco in the Corcoran Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament on Wednesday.

Last season, Lemoore (2-1) only won back-to-back games twice. They then followed that up with a 65-14 victory over Woodlake on Thursday. The Tigers will conclude their tournament play today.
