Sierra Pacific (1-4) vs. Orosi (4-2)
HANFORD — Sierra Pacific got walloped in their non-league game against Orosi, 39-7, on Thursday at the Neighbor Bowl.
Golden Bears quarterback Will Springer was 7-for-18 for 92 yards passing and no touchdowns. Phillips Jackson scored the lone touchdown for Sierra Pacific and finished with 53 rushing yards on 14 carries.
Jayson Littlejohn was the leading receiver for the Golden Bears with three catches for 38 yards.
Up next, Sierra Pacific will travel to Lindsay (1-4) to open up East Sequoia League play.
Redwood (3-3, 1-1 WYL) vs. Golden West (4-1, 0-1 WYL)
VISALIA — Redwood defended home turf with their 19-7 win over Golden West on Friday at the Mineral King Bowl.
Golden West opened up the scoring with a 37-yard touchdown pass and led 7-0 after the first quarter. Despite a missed field goal by Redwood, the Rangers tied the game in the second quarter and the two teams were deadlocked at the half.
The Rangers completed a 34-yard touchdown pass in the third, but missed the extra point and led 13-7.
Entering the fourth quarter with a six-point lead, the Trailblazers looked to find some offense. Instead, the Rangers intercepted the ball and turned it into six more points on a 10-yard toss to put the game away.
Redwood has a home game against Hanford (1-5, 1-1 WYL) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Golden West heads back home to battle Lemoore (3-3, 2-0 WYL) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
