With scoring the first goal of the game, things were looking promising for the Selma girls soccer team, but the Bears struggled in a 4-1 home loss to Fresno High School on Friday Dec. 8.

Coming off a road loss to Reedley, it was important for the Bears to start strong in their first home game of the season, but after scoring the first goal of the contest, Selma struggled defensively throughout the game.

After a 2-1 halftime lead, Fresno created constant defensive pressure on Selma, even though the Bears had multiple chances to score late in the second half.

The Bears second straight loss drops their record to 4-3.

Despite the loss, Selma has had success this season, as all four of its wins have been shutouts.

After Selma’s road game against Fowler on Tuesday Dec.12, the Bears are back at home with a matchup against Yosemite High School on Friday Dec. 15. .
