SELMA – A 29-year-old Selma man died after colliding with a utility pole and getting ejected from his car as it started to overturn, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

The victim was identified as Anthony Jimenez, of Selma, by the Fresno County Coroner's Office.

The collision happened at 1:08 a.m. May 12 on Mountain Avenue near Zediker Avenue.

There were no other vehicles involved and the CHP reports that neither alcohol nor drugs contributed to the collision.

Jimenez was driving a 2006 Nissan west on Mountain View when he lost control of his vehicle, left the road and collided with the utility pole. The impact sheared the pole at the base. As the car continued on to the dirt shoulder, it started to overturn. Their investigation showed he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.

The collision is still under investigation.
