Both Selma and Kingsburg were awash in red, white and blue as the communities marked Independence Day with July 3 celebrations at their respective high school stadiums.

The events were sponsored by each city and the Selma District Chamber of Commerce and Kingsburg District Chamber of Commerce.

Residents enjoyed food from local organizations, children’s activities at both events and live music of Prestige at Selma’s gathering.

Selma resident Mary Allen was recognized with the Community Spirit Award for her involvement with the Selma Women's Club, Pioneer Village, Central Valley Lioness Lions, Rotary, Selma Cares, Selma Cancer Support and Chamber of Commerce.

Meanwhile, local military service men and women were recognized at both events and Kingsburg Boy Scout Troop #392's patriotic flag presentation highlighted their event before the fireworks display.
