Rabies vaccination clinic and license event

SELMA - The City of Selma is offering its first rabies vaccination clinic and license purchasing event on the Jan. 20, 9 a.m. to noon at Second Chance Animal Shelter. The cost for a rabies vaccination is $10.

The City of Selma requires all dogs to be licensed. To receive a license the dog must have a rabies vaccination certificate. Licenses cost $20 per animal (unaltered), $10 per animal if spayed or neutered documentation must be presented at time of purchase of license. Those 62-years and older will received a 50 percent discount on the license fees.

If you already possess a current rabies certificate the dog does not need to be present to purchase the license.

Licenses purchased after March 31 are subject to a 50 percent late fee. Contact the City of Selma Finance Department at 891-2205 for more information. Make checks payable to the City of Selma.

Second Chance Animal Shelter is at 2831 W. Front St. in Selma. The adoption fee is $135 and includes spay and neuter, microchip and vaccinations.
