HANFORD — Women with Visions Unlimited held its 8th Annual Women’s History Month Celebration Thursday at Kings Behavioral Health Building.

The dinner was a time to celebrate women in general and several in particular.

Women with Visions Unlimited presented a plaque to the Divas Social Club for its service to the community. Some of the group's notable events have been its annual backpack drive and an annual barbecue in Lemoore.

The social club also helps the Traffic Kingz Motorcycle Club and Traffic Queenz Social Club who were awarded the Wanda Williams-Hinton Community Service award at the Black History Celebration Dinner.

Women with Visions Unlimited also recognized Cathy Neal-Whitman, a Lemoore resident, for her creation of “Just Because I Care Baskets.” Neal-Whitman’s way of serving the sick and shut-in people is through making baskets with various pick-me-up items and delivering them.

Gwen Morris and Dr. Lola Loeb gave speeches at the dinner with the similar thread of how women need to pull together and make each other strong.

Paula Massey, founder of Women with Visions Unlimited, said she is now accepting nomination suggestions for next year's Women's History Month Celebration via Facebook messages. She said she expects formal applications for nominations in the summer.
