The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in cooperation with Bosco Constructors Inc., announced ramp and lane closures in the city of Hanford and community of Armona this week for roadway excavation.

The following closures will take place daily until Friday, April 19:

  • All Hanford-Armona Road on-ramps and off-ramps from eastbound and westbound state Route 198 will be closed between 6 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Only the 14th Avenue off-ramp from eastbound SR-198 will be open. All other 14th Avenue on-ramps and off-ramps will be closed between 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Westbound SR-198 between 12th Avenue and 16th Avenue will be reduced to one lane between 6 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Eastbound SR-198 between 14th Avenue and Hanford-Armona Road will be reduced to one lane between 6 a.m.-4 p.m.

Closures may continue for longer periods of time each day if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur during construction.

Reckless or inattentive drivers traveling through work zone areas have caused the majority of work zone deaths. Caltrans wants to remind drivers to stay attentive and undistracted while driving, to be cognizant of workers and vehicles in construction and maintenance areas and slow down while driving through work zones.

Caltrans would like to thank commuters for their continued patience throughout this project. Please be alert for personnel and remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
