Wilma Laughlin, a long time Hanford resident passed away peacefully on December 20, 2017, at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband Kennie Laughlin in 2001.
Wilma was born on October 11, 1922 in Calera, Oklahoma. At the age of 18 Wilma and a girlfriend bought space in the car of a family traveling to Hanford, California. Her plan was to spend the summer then return home. While in Hanford, she worked as a nanny for Bill and Dorothy Schafer. During that summer, she met Kennie Laughlin, and her plans changed. She and Kennie were married on October 25, 1941. They worked together to establish Kennie's Refrigeration in the late 1950's.
She is survived by her daughters; Myrna Weatherly and her husband Michael, children; Stephen Stout, Kenny Stout and Karen Martin and Sharon Koelewyn and her husband Tommy, children; Kevin Koelewyn and Kristin VanderVeen. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren who will remember their Granny. She leaves a legacy of a strong work ethic, loving our country and serving the Lord. Her main goal was teaching her daughters and grandchildren the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hanford Cemetery; 10500 S. 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230.
