Thomas Clair Zimmerman, Jr.

Thomas Clair Zimmerman, Jr. was born May 2, 1934 in Montebello, CA, the only child of Thomas Clair Zimmerman, Sr., and Hazel Hester Brock. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, CA in 1952, and Loyola University in Los Angeles, CA in 1957 with a BA Degree in Business Administration. Tom enlisted in the Reserve Officers Training Corps at Loyola, and upon graduation was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force.
He was assigned to active duty in January 1958 and eventually stationed at Miles City Air Force Station in Montana. He served on active duty until 1960, entered the reserves, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain in 1971. He married Carol Lee Kepler in 1959; after the Air Force they settled in southern California where he joined his father in the auto parts business.
In 1973 he moved to Visalia, CA with his three young sons where he ran a small farm, a trucking company, and later an auto parts store in Woodlake, CA. He remarried in 1975 to Shirleen Harms (Booker). In later years he worked as a real estate agent and mortgage broker. In May 2012 he retired to Hanford, CA where he spent his final years caring for his first wife, and lifelong friend, Carol.
He passed peacefully on January 13, 2018 in Visalia, CA. He is survived by three sons; Thomas (Laura) of San Diego, CA; Wayne of Raleigh, NC; Ross (Jewel) of Hanford, CA; and three grandchildren , Chaney, Chloe, and Chase of Hanford, CA.
