Robert F. Hammond

Robert “Bob” Hammond was born September 26, 1935 to Edith and Frank Hammond. He was a lifetime resident of Laton, Ca graduating from Laton High School in 1956. At 22 he married his lifelong love Joyce. In their 54 years of marriage they embarked on many adventures including their 6 children, businesses, and traveling. Bob was full of stories and always up for a good prank. He was a longtime member of the Laton Lions Club, which included multiple stents as president. He and Joyce enjoyed being a part of the Lions Club and loved to dance at the Friday Night Jam. He was also an avid gardener, winning multiple awards for his sunflowers and vegetables at the Fresno Fair. Bob was also known for his homemade wine.

Bob passed away peacefully at his home in Laton on Saturday, April 27, 2019. He leaves behind his children Wayne (Rhonda) Hammond and Stephanie (Frank) Martin, both of Laton, Jeremy Hammond, his brother Charles (Connie) Hammond of Riverdale, sister Ardell MacCarter of Indiana, 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, beloved sisters, wife Joyce L. Hammond, son Robert “Bobby” Hammond, and daughters Barbara Huston and Victoria Hammond.
Bob, along with his wife Joyce, will be laid to rest on May 24, 2019 at 10 AM at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton with a celebration of his life immediately following at the Laton Lions Hall.
