Nancy Sue (Spring) Garcia
March 5, 1944 –December 30, 2018
Nancy Sue (Spring) Garcia, 74, of Hanford, CA passed away December 30, 2018. Nancy was born smiling, March 5, 1944 at home in Armona, CA to Wilburn and Corrine (Oakes) Spring. She worked coaching sports with the girls of St. Rose-McCarthy School, where she also began her teacher's aide career that concluded in retirement with the Hanford Elementary School District.
Nancy's experience with St. Rose-McCarthy influenced her decision to become Catholic along with her husband, Stan's urging, since he and their son Kevin are alumni of St. Rose-McCarthy School.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Frank and Lorraine Garcia, sister Cora Lee Thomas and brothers-in-law Darrell Winfield and George Burger. Sue, as she is called by family, is survived by her husband; son Kevin (Elizabeth); grandson Dylan Garcia; sisters Lennie Winfield; Bealy (Tony) Joaquin; brother Dean (Wendy) Spring; godmother Mary Ann Toste; sister-in-law Rose Burger and brother-in-law Manuel Thomas; many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of life-long friends. With the help of family, Sue also got to connect with many relatives of her Oklahoma Choctaw heritage.
“Life Celebration” will be held on her 75th birthday, March 5, 2019 10:00am at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 1200 Douty St., Hanford. There-after interment will take place in Hanford Cemetery, 10500 10th Ave. at the Army Tank. Arrangements under the direction of Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home, Hanford.
