Myron D. Dutra
August 9, 1920 – October 10, 2018
Myron D. Dutra was born on August 9, 1920 in Hanford, son of Manuel and Joaquina (Sowvlen) Dutra. Our beloved father, grandfather “Pop-pop”, and great-grandfather passed away on October 10, 2018 at the age of 98 years old in his home with his family by his side. He resided on the family ranch in Hanford his entire life.
Myron attended Willow Grove School, graduated Hanford High School in 1938 and UC Davis in 1943. He enlisted in the Navy upon graduation and served in the Pacific during WWII achieving the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. After his naval service, Myron returned to Hanford to farm alongside his father and brother, Theron. He met his future bride Natalie Macedo while attending a Brigidite's function. They were married on September 6, 1952 at St. Peter's Church in Lemoore and celebrated 61 years of marriage until her passing in 2013.
Myron is survived by his children, three daughters: Sharon (Steve) Weber, Teresa Evangelo, Renee (Rob) Castro; five sons: Duane (Sandra), Brian (Donna), Kevin (Darla), Kenny, and Darrin (Christine). He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Natalie, parents, brother and sister-in-law, Theron and Miena Dutra, sister and brother-in-law Shelly and Sonny Estes, in-laws Manuel and Maria Macedo, and son-in-law Anthony Evangelo.
Myron was actively involved in the community. He served on the Kit Carson School Board for 19 years, and was a member of numerous fraternal organizations. Over the years, Myron and Natalie have been honored as Kings County Dairy Family, Homecoming King and Queen-Kit Carson Area and Distinguished Dairy Couple. Myron was selected as Kings County Agriculturist of the Year in 2011. The love of his family and land will be his everlasting legacy.

Rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 6:00pm and Funeral Mass will be Wednesday the 17th at 12 noon. All services will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Hanford. Arrangements under the direction of Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home, Hanford.
