May 05, 1976 - October 14, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Luis Martinez announces his passing after a battle with cancer, on Sunday, October 14th, 2018, at the age of 42. Luis was born on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) 1976 in Durango, Mexico. He grew up in the town of Orosi and graduated from Orosi High School in 1995. One of his greatest joys in life occurred when the Chicago Bears won Super Bowl XX in 1986. Luis became a die-hard Bears fan from that day forward. The greatest joy that Luis had in this life was that of meeting his wife Lorena and then receiving four beautiful gifts from God in the form of his children. He loved his family passionately. From a young age, he provided strength and financial assistance to his own mother and sisters. His only sadness in passing was to be leaving his family. Luis was a 19 year veteran Correctional Officer at Avenal State Prison. He was very touched by the overwhelming love and support he received from his friends and colleagues.
Luis will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lorena and his children, Audrena Rumalda, Angelo Julian, Jovan Alexander, and Yianna Izabella. Luis will also be fondly remembered by his mother, Irma Martinez Contreras, his father, Luis Martinez Sr., and his younger sisters, Marisol, Maribel, and Crystal.
Jesus, I trust in you.
