July 19, 1925 – November 2, 2018
Louie Rose Silva, 93, passed away November 2, 2018 in Hanford. He was born July 19, 1925 in Hanford to Serafin and Maria (Silveira) Silva. He was involved in farming for most of his life. God, Church and Family. This is who and what defined Louie. They came above all else. It didn't matter if you were a sister, brother, son or 3rd cousin, you were family and you were important to him. He literally was the person who would give you the shirt off his back. Louie donated countless hours to the church and community. His involvement in organizations such as FFA, 4-H, Square 8's, The Volunteer Fire Department and St. Brigid Church are testament to his generosity.
Louie's passing is the end of an era. To say that he was a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather is not nearly enough. Everyone's life he touched was made better. He will be missed every day but never forgotten. He lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Louie is survived by his wife, Alma “Gerry” Silva, his children; Manuel Silva of Hanford, John Stocking of Visalia, Helen Washburn of North Carolina, Alma Jean Van Groningen of Australia and Joan Van Groningen of Visalia. He also leaves his beloved 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Louie was preceded in death by his step-son, Daniel, and by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
