Hazel M. Espindula
March 9, 1927 – April 7, 2018
Hazel Marie Benevedes Espindula born March 9, 1927 in Tulare, CA passed away April 7, 2018. She spent 91 years living in Tulare. After her school years, her first job was at Woolworth's. She married Joe Espindula in 1946, they have one daughter Geraldine (Jeri) Vieira. Hazel and Joe worked side by side at the Dairy in Hanford & the Zumwalt house in retirement with their ever growing flock of show birds & chickens.
Hazel was active in many organizations through the years: Oak Valley PTA, Oak Valley 4-H, Tulare County Fair Home Arts building coordinator, Cabrillo Club, Catholic Daughters, Brotherhood of St. Anthony, Central California Caged Bird Club & American Budgerigar Society.
There are so many memories to share, New Year's Eve parties in the garage, Barn dances, Christmas Parties with Santa Clause, Joe's breakfast Birthdays, sewing dresses for Jeri & the nieces. Homemade goodies for all the holidays, popcorn balls at Halloween & the abundant gift baskets at Christmas with her homemade jams.
Hazel is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Joe Espindula, her brothers Richard & John Benevedes, her sister Dorothy Renaker, her sisters-in-laws Eva & Pat Benevedes and Dolores Espindula, and her brother-in-law Manuel Mossa. She is survived by her daughter Jeri Vieira & her husband Alvin. Their four children, daughter Angelique Vieira and Shane Terry. Son Alvin & Kelly Vieira and their girls Victoria and Hannah. Daughter Tekla & Eric Patton and their boys Jayden and Axel. Son David Vieira and his children Luke, Gianna & Jake. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Miguel her husband George, brother in-law George Espindula & sister in-law Elsie Jordan. Hazel is also survived by her 21 god children and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jeri would like to thank Bernie Mederos, Rhea Ann Enos, Maria Miranda, Yurenie Gomes, Casa Grande Senior Care & Kaweah Delta Hospital for Hazel's care in the last few years.
Visitation for Hazel will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 4-8pm at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home, 151 N. H St. Tulare, CA. Rosary and funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at beginning at 10:30am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 125 E. Pleasant Ave, Tulare. Burial will follow at Tulare District Cemetery.
