Frederick Dale Ainsworth

Frederick Dale Ainsworth passed away on March 15, 2018 in Fresno, California at age 76. He was born on May 2, 1941 in Utica, New York to Lee (Hills) Ainsworth and Dale Ainsworth.
Fred moved to Hanford, California with his mother, Lee and his step-father, Irv Stetson in 1952. He graduated from Hanford High School in 1959 and then attended Reedley College and College of the Sequoias. In 1962, Fred married Laura Lee Shirley. Shortly thereafter, he signed with the Minnesota Twins Baseball League and played two years in the Triple-A Minors Baseball League (Erie, PA, Ft. Walton Beach and Orlando, Florida). During the Vietnam War, Fred chose to enlist and served four years in the U.S. Air Force (Oregon and Alaska) as a radar technician. Upon honorable discharge, he completed his formal education at California State University, Fresno. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminology and worked for the Tulare Co. Probation Department in Visalia for eight years.
In 1978, upon his step-father's retirement, Fred took over the family business of Hanford Monument, Inc. and later developed a trophy business, Kings County Trophy and Engraving (1981) on the same site.
While in Hanford, he was actively involved in the community with the Rotary International, Special Olympics, Hanford Carnegie Museum, Hanford Portuguese Celebration, Hanford Ambassadors, Hanford Youth Soccer League and he was also a member of First Baptist Church of Hanford.
Having sold Hanford Monument, Inc. in 1995, Fred moved to San Luis Obispo and established Davenport Creekside Monument. He married Marilyn Lambert in 1999. They were business partners and best friends. Together they had a love for their animals on the ranch in San Luis Obispo. Fred raised Arabian horses and showed in halter and Western pleasure for 22 years. In 2011, Marilyn and Fred moved their horse ranch to Coarsegold (in the Yosemite foothills) and Fred reestablished his final business in Hanford, San Joaquin Memorials.
Fred Ainsworth is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Irv Stetson. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ainsworth, his two sons (by Laura Ainsworth) and their spouses: Brandon and Laura Ainsworth of Hanford, CA and Scott and Regina Ainsworth of Burbank, CA, 3 grandchildren: Tayler Punla (and her husband, Chris) of Honolulu, HI, Jacob Ainsworth of Fresno, CA and Elijah John Ainsworth of Burbank, CA, his mother-in-law Mary Bartels of Coarsegold, CA and brother-in-law, Scott Young of Canoga Park, CA. Fred was affiliated with “His Church” in Coarsegold with Pastor Cody Gunderson.
Private graveside services will be done at a later time in Oakhurst, CA.
