Dorothy Faye (Minter) Starr Born in Cutler, California July 13, 1926 Passed in Selma, California February 17, 2019 at the age of 92.
Dorothy grew up on a ranch in Sanger, CA where she lived with her parents and four siblings. She loved singing and was an accomplished flute and piccolo player. After graduating at Sanger High School she went on to study at Biola Bible Institute of Los Angeles. She was a member of the Kay-Ree-Dots a girls trio. She also played with Fresno City Band. She met Phillip Starr at a church function and again when he went into Kenmore Jewelry Store where she was working. They were married within three months and enjoyed 72 years together. She worked at Libby Canary, Kimbers Chicken Ranch and USDA. She also delivered the Fresno Bee driving 100 miles a day, seven days a week. She was a member of The Odd Fellows and Rebecca Lodge and was very active in American Legions Auxiliary.
She is mother to three children and their spouses Terry and Joannie Starr, David and Patricia Starr, Connie and Marc Foreman. Grandmother of seven, Shannon Gus, David, Jr. and Chad Starr, Laura Bolton and Tara Starr (deceased), Max and Wes Foreman. Two step grandchildren Laura Haltom Dietz and Jason Haltom. Ten great grandchildren to Katie and Brenden Starr, Rowan and Willow Bolton, Brittany Ramos and Courtney Smith, Macy, Jack, Logan and Morgan Dietz.
We will celebrate her life on March 9, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Selma. 2026 Arrants Street, at 11:00 am. Thomas Marcom Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Starr Family.
