Cecil M. Powers
Februry 23, 1929-December 16, 2017
Cecil Martin Powers was the first of four sons born to Mary and Cecil Powers on Feb. 23, 1929, in Davenport, Oklahoma. The family soon settled in Dinuba, California.
Cecil's early years were spent in school and working on farms in the Dinuba/Sultana area. He joined the army in 1950 and was stationed in Germany as an infantryman. There he met and married the love of his life Rosemarie Tiemann.
After serving in the army Cecil and Rose moved to Dinuba, but settled in Hanford in 1957 where they raised their three children; Marten, Suzanne and Pamela.
Cecil worked as a dairyman, and then a plumber at Lemoore Naval Air Station before starting his own business, C.M. Powers Plumbing.
For many years Cecil and Rose collected and delivered clothing and household goods to the Fresno Rescue Mission. Practicing good health was a priority; they watched their diet, walked and exercised. Cecil made sure to partake of his garlic and honey daily. They liked to take their fifth wheel to Morro Dunes; where they enjoyed visiting with people and relaxing. The highlight of their life was spending time with their family.
After a brief illness Cecil peacefully joined his Lord and Savior on December 16th, 2017; at the age of 88.
Cecil is survived by his three brothers; Harry, Orville, and Art; his children; Marten(Brenda) Powers, Suzanne(Tom) West and Pamela(Jerry) Waymire; his grandchildren; Lynn(Steven), Andrew(Sarah), Daniel(Miranda), Mark(Trista) and Stephanie; six great grandchildren; Temperance, Evelyn, Elliott, Daniel, Asher and Scarlett.
He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Mary; and his wife of 61 years, Rosemarie.
A service will be held at the Hanford Cemetery on March 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
