Carmen Cerda, a lifelong resident of Laton, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 in Hanford. She was 76. Carmen worked in foam container manufacturing for 26 years. She will be remembered as a hard worker who would help anyone in need. Everyone was welcome in her home. She was a devote member of The Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Laton where she taught Catechism and belonged to the Guadalupanas and Catholic Daughters. She loved to garden especially growing her roses, dance, crochet and listen to Elvis. But what her family loved most was that she was a great story teller.
Carmen is survived by her children Donna Valles & husband Marcelino of Hanford, Stella Perez-Alcoser & husband Robert of Laton and Ray Perez & wife Melissa of Hanford. She also leaves her siblings Nellie Camarillo of Hanford, Robert Perez of Hanford, Virginia Cruz of Bodfish, David Perez of Hanford, Rosa Garcia of Fresno, Frank Perez of Hanford, Jesse Perez of Armona, Dolores Guillen of Malaga and Art Perez of Lemoore. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Raymond Perez in 1972 and her second husband Othon Cerda in 2001 and one brother Raymond J. Perez.
Visitation for Carmen will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 4:30 pm at Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Laton. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:00 pm also at the Church. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10:30 am at Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
