HANFORD — Assemblyman James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) has endorsed Hanford City Councilman Justin Mendes in his race for the California State Assembly.
“Having been in the State Assembly since 2014, I know that integrity and hard work are prerequisites if you want to truly effect change in your community,” Gallagher said in a press release. “Justin Mendes has both the work ethic and the integrity it takes to successfully bring change to the Central Valley.”
Gallagher said following his election to City Council in 2014, Mendes focused on improving public safety in his community and has led the fight for a new fire station in Hanford and increased police presence in local neighborhoods.
He added that on the Hanford Council, Mendes delivered clean water to his constituents and put his residents above political agendas. He has continually fought to create new jobs that will benefit the community for the long term.
Mendes is running for Assembly District 32 against incumbent Rudy Salas. The district encompasses all of Kings County and the Kern County communities of Arvin, Delano, Lamont, McFarland, Shafter, Wasco and part of the city of Bakersfield.
