Can Government, 3000 miles distant, understand California's needs, populations and economic drivers? Federal-vs. State Rights is the epicenter of endless legal, expensive guerrilla warfare actions forced on Sacramento’s Attorney General. Founder George Mason observed "no amendments of the proper kind would ever be obtained by the people, if the Government should become oppressive".
Is D.C. willing to fix itself? NO! The solution: An Article V Convention of States. Join the 29 January Sacramento State House gathering.
California industries, services and medical sectors to agriculture, are poised to surge. Yet California's progress is shackled by D.C.'s bureaucratic micromanagement, fiscal manipulation, tax squandering, federal land mismanagement, and imperiling single-purpose federal programs. D.C. ignores California Assembly Bill 103, 450, Senate Bill 54 and funding implications Federal requirements impose. Citizens and elected suffer under:
• Federal "Clean Air Act" regulations artificially imposed over sustainable State appropriate improvements;
• Federal "McCain-Feingold Act" campaign regulation produces constant litigation on funding boundaries, candidate and elected behaviors;
• Federal oversight on ditches and canals as "waters of the U.S.";
• "Federal Sentencing Guideline" implementation over State devised judicial processes and management;
• Federal school mandates and land domination, denying States use, limiting citizen access; and
• Federal tariffs that severely injure State agricultural and business processes.
California is entitled to the Constitution's established system of "dual sovereignty". In spite of Supreme Court rulings in “New York v. United States” (1992) or Printz v. U.S. (1997), D.C. ruthlessly demands legislative and regulatory program obedience.
The cure: An Article V Convention of States. Article V has awakened distant and unconcerned Government before. Relevant issues were managed by nearly 40 conventions, Hartford Convention of 1814 to the Colorado River Compact of 1922. Californians need not fear the unfamiliar. Though Article V, Federal functions are redirected to their proper Constitutional boundaries.
Hope isn’t a strategy. Fear isn’t a process. Article V is direct and productive action to level the playing field Constitutionally intended. An Article V Convention of States can address and will restore California’s States Rights. Sign the petition now at www.conventionofstates.com
Advocating California moral bankruptcy, Thomas Elias 4 January “Commentary: Trump Administration Threatens a California Good News Story”, is a pathetic defense advocating recreational sex at the lowest possible level. It hides in “Title X Vans” taking girls, who should be pursuing academic or vocational careers, to facilities determine pregnancy -STD’s- birth control, revering a State amoral standard.
Pursue the moral bankruptcy into the media, TV or the internet and the evidence is plain. Need demonstrations; pick the right movie and Hollywood provides demonstrations disguised as “edgy” or “woke’. This is “libertine behavior” at its worst and it is to start early! Why not plaster “Eat, Drink and Be Merry” on the front of every academic institution and include John Wilmot, de Sade, and Diderot topical classroom instruction.
Martin Luther King, Jr. stated “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically…. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason but no morals. … We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.”
How is character added by education when moral bankruptcy is king? History, rife with examples, makes clear abolishment of sexual norms underpins social and character decay. Example: San Francisco’s elite enact policies providing heroin and fentanyl addicts with safe spaces to shoot up without persecution. Family units, previously strong in earlier decades have grown into today’s predominately single parent operations. Gone is the influence necessary to foster a strong, moral culture and some hope beyond our lifetimes.
The very things that play to our curiosity and personal development are discarded in this ‘unguided, throw-away’ culture. Everything is a target: items, people, babies, ideas, and reality. The all-encompassing pop of dopamine pleasure in whatever form is “it”; all else is ignored.
There is “good news”; it isn’t found in this orgy of self-indulgence Mr. Elias idolizes. “We are all going to die soon and there is no sequel.” (Ricky Gervais). Try elsewhere, maybe someplace with a cross or noble truths contained inside.
Listening to Presidential candidate promises, what IS the COST of a Democrat majority in D.C.? Traveling to CBO, Urban Institute and University sites, one finds the accumulated cost estimate represents $92 Trillion in government spending over a decade. That is:
• $9.2. Trillion per year (averaged); BUT
• $4.4 Trillion is the projected yearly tax intake by government.
Guess who gets to make up the difference in higher taxes, fewer services and potential economic impacts internationally?
Adding to an existing $12.4 Trillion debt baseline, the single year calculation Candidates offer are:
• for Single Payer/Medicare Modification ($3.2 Trillion);
• Cost of Living Increase/Benefits ($188 Billion);
• Free College ($807 Billion);
• Paid Leave ($270 Billion);
• Federal Jobs Expansion/$15 Hr. Minimum Wage ($680 Billion);
• Infrastructure $1 Trillion);
• Student Debt cancellation ($1.4 Trillion);
• Medicare short-fall ($5.4 Trillion), and;
• Medicare Private Sector loss $6 Trillion).
Current taxes must increase to an estimated 63.4 % to cover federal generosity and state mandated program losses. State taxes don’t vanish. There are insufficient Billionaires and Millionaire “tax targets” to cover promised program expenses. An 80 % Value-Added-Tax (VAT) doesn’t do it. Citizen-owned IRA-type savings, which government wants use, doesn’t cover promised program cost either.
Add in the “Green New Deal” and $9.2 Trillion/yr. rises to $18.5 Trillion/yr. (that is only a best estimate!). The $4.4 Trillion in tax intake just isn’t adequate.
One can jack these program costs around many ways and suggest offsets. That kind of math is called probability or Ponzi-scheming. I suggest untruthfulness is a better term.
But, by all means, elect Bernie, Warren, Buttegieg or Biden. You should also look at complicit Republican incumbents and past candidates offers with equal skepticism; they swim in the same swamp. Buy into this debt load and what you get will be what you deserve for failure to understand the old saying – “there is no free lunch”. It is said that you can tell when a politician is lying, their lips are moving. The media has investigated nothing. Question everything. Be skeptical. IT’S YOUR MONEY!
Governor Newsom signed 1,100 new laws. What kind of dictatorship are we living under?
Law enforcement hands are tied. Where a good criminal is a dead criminal.
The cost of living is so high in California, when will taxpayers get a break? The illegals get a break on health, that the taxpayers pay for. Kids that have never been taught how to behave or how to be courteous to one another, can not be kicked out of school for willfully defying a teacher or others.
You have heard that California has fruits and nuts, well in California we send them to Washington D.C., Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Diane Feinstein and why does her husband get lots of government contracts, and don't forget Kamala Harris. The country would be better off, if they were out of office. When will the people of California stand up and throw the Democrats out of office.
For those who don't understand climate change, it's winter, spring, summer and Fall, and God takes care of the rest.
I was googling stuff and came across a patent (now expired) of an invention by Ronald D Vollmar back in the 70's for raising the level of manhole covers . Works like this ; #1 cut the pavement away from around the cover #2 raise the ring and cover to it's new elevation and place shims #3 place a car tire inner tube inside the storm drain cone and rim of cover and inflate #4 pour concrete of appropriate density into the outer cavity until void is filled . The weight of the concrete will flatten out the outer curve of the tube into a flat surface (without leaving jagged edges)
Cheaper , less time consuming , etc , etc .
Now the patent article goes on to say a whole bunch of stuff about manhole covers not properly adjusted leading to giant "Holes " in the pavement and "Bumps" damaging cars and bicycles . Basically costing taxpayers even more paying for lawsuits against the city for damages by private citizens from town and out of town etc.
It's a very straightforward article describing the old costly way of properly leveling city sewer and storm drain manhole covers and this new invention of using an automobile tire inner tube . Google Patents . [side note] Using the California transparency website for kings county is one way of finding funds . Thank You.
Ludwig von Mises informs why Marxism’s twin brothers, Socialism and Communism, will fail. All the materials of production – raw materials, labor, tools and machinery – are owned by the Government, not individuals. Control is exerted by planners; market prices are not driven through purchaser’s actions but government’s best guess.
Every Marxist-based nation has become a tyranny, i.e. U.S.S.R., North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela. The Democrat fantasy is we are to believe their Marxist-based processes would:
• Decrease the impact of money on politics;
• Cultural, race and gender inequality would magically disappear;
• Price fixing would vanish;
• Income equality would magically arise;
• Economic cycles, inflation and recession, would vanish;
• Un-needed goods and services would disappear - only socially valuable products would be forthcoming;
• Land/labor resources become more efficiently used, and;
• Mining, oil, resources and industry are effectively controlled from mismanagement.
What a fantasy! Marxist impacts above result from current government intrusions. Our economy is rife with government intervention; not an economy left to freely determine economic outcomes. No industry is exempt from intensive yet ineffective regulation or government direction. Government bureaucracy regulations reflect a “planned Marxist economy”. Simplistically, the U.S. departs from a ‘free market’ when:
• Congress and its candidates continue to spend beyond its means;
• Bureaucracies manage funds, finance and function in lieu of the self-balancing system envisioned in our founding;
• The Food and Drug Administration, Federal Trade Commission and Fair Labor Board, and nine other unelected agencies subsume “free markets” under government micromanagement.
Von Mises wrote “Every step that takes us away from private ownership of the means of production and from the use of money also takes us away from rational economics.” Private markets, unfetter by government, solve problems as owners calculate various economic factors and buy, sell, and trade in response to supply and demand mechanisms.
We are the envy of the world. People clamor to enter this nation. These people seem to understand more about our economic benefit potential than citizens residing inside our borders. Sadly, self-destruction isn’t so evident! Wake up!
To the citizens of Selma, I am writing as a concerned individual coming from the City of Kingsburg who understands why cities must form districts. My advisement comes from experience and education as a political economist, so there might be times that I strongly advise something that is in the best interest of the City of Selma.
I intend to provide some education on city government systems, the possible legal implications, and finally the right of the citizens to vote on the system that they like. The issue presented to Selma is how should the City Council be elected?
There is a lot of confusion about what a mayor is and can do when compared to a city councilmember. Here is the biggest shocker to a lot of people: There is not a lot of difference between the two positions. The mayor is a city councilmember elected from the council to be a ceremonious position head. That means their vote carries no extra weight and there is no power to direct other than council meetings. The two kinds of city government is either strong mayor or a strong city manager government.
Selma has the strong city manager position which means the city council gives direction and the city manager has the ability to execute the best way they see fit with council’s approval. The City of Fresno is a strong mayor where the mayor gives direction over the city manager and is separate from city council.
There were a lot of citizens in attendance at the Selma City Council Meeting who wanted to choose their mayor and felt that there is a cronyism preventing them from choosing their mayor. These are the people that I am attempting to reach and encourage awareness of how their own government works at the city level, or they will inadvertently get what they wanted to avoid. If you read my article and feel cautious, then it is a start in the right direction to feel skeptical and then seek out what is true.
With the City of Selma debating on how to create voting districts for City Council, there are a few things that need to be understood. The City of Kingsburg was being sued over the unfair representation of an ethnic group that was not represented basically during the entire time the City has been in existence. The City of Kingsburg created districts and with that the City elected its first Hispanic councilwoman. Now, it is understandable that the City of Selma doesn’t have that same problem. It is creating its own new problem with the new district system that it wants to implement with a mayor elected at large with four districts. To quick reference this system of city council, I will refer to it as the (4-1) system.
It may not seem like it would be a legal issue, but it can when one district has two individuals to vote for its district. The current system with no districts already shows a 3 to 2 voting history where there are three councilmembers who tend to vote together. The dynamics could cause legislative processes to slow or stall worse than the city’s current circus of city council meetings, depending on who benefits.
With five districts for city councilmembers, there is fair representation where the mayor is just a ceremonial figure head. There is equality that doesn’t create spite or ill intent towards other districts.
Observance should be advised to citizens who attend city council meetings when the city lawyer gives information. This is not liable for the fact that you can review the Selma’s City Council meetings on YouTube and listen to what he says. Example being, when I spoke about government ordinances that covered the creation of districts, I suggested that this be a matter for the citizens to vote on. A resident of Selma went up after me and questioned the city lawyer if what I said was correct. The response he gave was, “He is not wrong.” To those who passively listen, you may not realize that the word “not” was in there, but he used a loaded negative word of “wrong.”
Other presentations that advised costs for citizens to put this matter on the ballot early used the same negative loaded words and Councilmembers added to this when they attempted to distract its citizens. The mention of high construction costs for the new City Police Department was used. Then, they claimed to want to save money by delaying the ballot and using the savings for public safety, the same spending that was just complained about being over budget. I mention all these things about Selma’s City Council because I encourage citizens to be aware of what is being said and not to be swayed by a circus that has its own agenda.
I felt that it was important to allow the voters of Selma to choose their system of government and over time, I did a lot of consideration of how it should be placed on the ballot.
After everything that I had mentioned earlier, the option of a four councilmembers and one mayor at large (4-1) system should not be placed on the ballot at all due to the legal implications that can come from unfair political practices. This will honestly save a lot of heartache, time, and money for the City of Selma to avoid, period. Leaving the current system in place now would have less legal issues than the (4-1) system. Leave the current system intact should be an option for voters to select.
Since the City of Selma is a strong city manager style of city government, the option of having the city split fairly into five districts is an option I strongly encourage to be on the ballot and voters to select. This can prevent any unfair voting by the council by preventing any unfair representation of any part of Selma. This system will reduce the likelihood of the city being sued, which if the current City Council is concerned with how the budget is getting spent, would agree with this system. I now speak to the City Council of Selma and encourage a reconsideration of how they want to put this to the voters and draw out district lines.
For the City of Selma to succeed in all possible ways, councilmembers must make decisions that sometimes do not benefit them. This is the practice of civic virtue. If all politicians were to practice this, then our country would be better. Change for the better sometimes starts at the community level or city level.
The City Council of Selma started this process without any outside persuasion, which I applaud and see as the best intentions to move the City forward. I wish all the citizens of Selma that this process works out and produces the best outcome.
Since the 2016 election when our nation's own intelligence agencies agreed was absolutely affected by Russian disinformation campaigns on our social media, they showed support for party over country including myriad Trump campaign officials now either in prison, indicted, or facing prosecution for illegally acting as foreign agents and tax fraud.
They and their supporters continue to chant, "lock her up" despite a growing laundry list of criminality in their own party while stirring partisan passions, demanding allegiance to the same and amazingly, spreading further disinformation toward the 2020 elections.
Our regional Republican delegation to Congress, past and present, are all party to this culture of nonsense through either their active participation or complicit silence, undermining our Constitution at every turn in deference for political gain while risking our nation's security to Russian oligarchs doing the bidding of one former Soviet KGB leader, Vladimir Putin.
Now the party of Trump are filling their money pit to support Republican former House member, David Valadao - an alleged direct beneficiary of foreign money via GOP PACs aligned with indicted Russian money-man, Lev Parnas. They now push to help Valadao as their guy, even though during his previous terms he'd accomplish little for his constituents beyond doing the bidding for his party; even though those (tax) policies hurt the very people who voted for him in the past.
That is why TJ Cox deserves to stay in Congress as our representative, having actively pursued equitable water, health care, education and immigration policies which directly benefit folks here in the Central and South Valley.
The choice is as clear now, more than ever that our nation's democracy is surely at stake in the 2020 elections. We cannot and should not allow misinformation and dark money to skew voters into apathy or worse, voting against their best interests. Let's not repeat the mistakes, but instead vote for those who we know will serve with our best interests in mind, not for the benefit of foreign interests, or worse.
A few months ago I contacted the Hanford Street Department. I was asking about the needed repair of the railroad crossing on West Cameron Street. It is a terrible rough crossing. I was informed they can do nothing to repair. It is up to the Railroad and they claim to Hanford Street department that Santa Fe has only one repair crew to maintain all crossing from Bakersfield to Sacramento. I would have laughed at it had it not be so seriously important to me and our community. I cannot accept that as a real truth. Surely someone has a final say besides the railroad!
Now I am also disturbed about the overall condition of our streets. In the last two years they have had a slurry solution applied to many of our streets. A method of preserving what is there. I noticed this application did not meet specification and the applying company had to come back and do a reapplication to many of the intersections. One of the workers told me it was because it was not done correctly the first time and they had to come back and do an intersection touch up.
Apply slurry is no doubt a good preserving application. It does nothing to repair all the chuck-holes which are a major problem for the traveling public. Then you have all these man-holes in the streets that are a couple inches lower than the road itself. I do not understand why all these man-holes have to become chuck-holes. Why are these man-hole drains not raised when they redo the street surfaces? Therefore eliminating these major Chuck-holes.
My opinion is our city leaders are not doing there job when it comes to street maintenance as well as street repairs.
Surely the next higher level of officials in the state or for that matter the National Government. Surely they have yet some control about railroad crossing in America. I hate to think that our National Government has sold out to the Railroads in America. It seems all they know how to do is spend tax payers money!!
House Democrats finally followed through on a promise. Before President Trump was even elected, they promised to impeach. They promised hyper-partisanship and allegiance to party leaders. Representative TJ Cox is just another blind follower to his party as revealed by voting to impeach Wednesday evening.
TJ Cox promised water for the Central Valley, affordable healthcare, solutions for the struggling dairy industry. However, during his first year in office, aside from managing a series of lawsuits against him and ethical mishaps, all he has followed through on is participating in a witch hunt. Nancy Pelosi demanded; TJ Cox answered the call. Considering all the scandal in his own life—lawsuits for blocking young girls with disabilities from using his skating facility, tax evasion, non-ethical spending audits, etc.—it's surprising he had time for even this single “accomplishment.”
It is clearer than ever where TJ Cox’s loyalty lies, and it’s not with the Central Valley. I guess this is what we get for electing someone who has never been involved in our community, faced our struggles, or even lived in the Central Valley.
Due Process, Liberty and Freedom are compromised through the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Their loss is fully demonstrated by Judicial Department Inspector (IG) General Horowitz’s report. Some 17 FISA warrant mistakes are summary highlighted; 34 additional are detailed in the report body.
Omitting data which cleared an individual (exculpatory information) is a direct violation of federal judicial rules. The FBI’s 17mistakes, factual obstruction, are brutally simple:
• Relevant data the FBI shared with other federal organizations omitted from warrant citation;
• The primary source of Crossfire-Hurricane, -fired by FBI, wasn’t revealed in warrant citation;
• No disclosure the ‘dossier’ had unreliable sub-source and partisan funding in warrant citation;
• FISA Court judges were not updated as new data emerged affecting warrant citation;
• An FBI Lawyer falsified information supplied in the warrant citation;
• FBI’s Associate Deputy Attorney General continued to use ‘dossier’ information in violation of standing regulations.
• Interaction between the FISA Warrant observed and wiretapped individuals never disclosed.
Directory Comey in an interview admits “responsibility for sloppiness”. Not corruption! Not abusing power! Sloppiness! He is yet another ex-Senior Executive Service (SES) catapulted to direct responsibility whose word regarding just Law enforcement and Constitution allegiance is bankrupt. How deep is the list of SES bureaucrats who are complicit? Where are those who are responsible to provide oversight?
The FBI fleeced FISA Court Judges, citizen trust and demonstrated incompetent governance. All well known to executives and elected for several decades. Why the FISA Court Judges long silence until IG Report release? They sat mute. The current majority party has wasted money and time in Impeachment, ignoring known corruption. And where was T.J. Cox? Voting for Impeachment.
Justice, Freedom and Liberty dies in darkness, i.e. the silence of the elected and SES-bureaucrats responsible for Government integrity. As it stands today, Government and political parties (R & D) lack trustworthiness. Seems like citizens ought to consider throwing them out of office and find someone locally interested in responsible governance, area interests and regional issues.
