HANFORD — The Hanford Police Department has arrested a man for allegedly sexually abusing a juvenile relative for the past two years, officials said.
On Thursday, police said a 12-year-old child reported to the School Resource Officer at a local middle school that they had been sexually abused over the last two years by a family member.
HPD detectives investigated the crime and said they discovered the juvenile had been sexually molested several times over the past two years at an address in Hanford.
Officials said the perpetrator was a relative of the juvenile and had started molesting the victim when the suspect moved here from Mexico.
Police contacted the suspect at his work and identified him as 22-year-old Marco Antonio Lopez Vasquez.
During an interview, authorities said Vasquez admitted to the sexual molestation, which occurred over the past two years.
Officials said Vasquez was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of several counts of sexual molestation of a juvenile.
