HANFORD — A man was injured Tuesday after riding too fast on his dirt bike and crashing into rocks, police said.
Police said at around 8:25 p.m., officers and firefighters were called out to 11240 Kay Lane regarding a collision involving a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, officers said they found an unconscious man. They said the man was ejected from a dirt bike and struck several rocks, resulting in a serious head injury.
Police said he was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Officials said after some investigation, it was determined that the man was riding at a high rate of speed on a 2004 Yamaha TTR-225 off road dirt bike south on Kay Lane with no helmet. They said as he approached a curve in the road, he was traveling too fast to make the turn so he and the dirt bike fell to the ground and he hit the rocks.
Authorities said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the collision.
