CORCORAN — A Corcoran man was killed Thursday when his motorcycle crashed into a car on state Route 43.
Around 6 a.m., officers form the CHP Visalia area office responded to state Route 43, north of Avenue 144 near Corcoran, for a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle versus a motorcycle.
During the course of the investigation, officers said they determined a 20-year old-male motorcyclist from Corcoran was riding a 2003 Suzuki southbound on state Route 43, north of Avenue 144, at an undetermined rate of speed.
CHP said a 38-year-old woman from Porterville was driving a 2016 Kia and traveling westbound on Avenue 144 at the same time, but was stopped at the stop sign at state Route 43.
As the motorcyclist was approaching the intersection, officers said the woman in the Kia accelerated her vehicle into the intersection. As she was traveling across the northbound lane of state Route 43, CHP said her 32-year old female passenger, also from Porterville, warned her of the approaching motorcyclist.
The woman brought the Kia to a stop, partially blocking the southbound lane, officials said
The motorcyclist observed the Kia and attempted to avoid a collision, but officers said he was unable to avoid the car and collided with the front bumper.
Other drivers stopped at the scene and performed CPR to the motorcyclist, who officials said was wearing a fully enclosed helmet, but he died at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
The driver of the Kia and her passenger were both wearing seatbelts and refused medical treatment, CHP said.
