LEMOORE — With the help of investigators from Corcoran and Reedley, the Lemoore Police Department was able to catch a suspect who robbed a check cashing business, officials said.

Around 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 27, Lemoore Police officers were dispatched to a check cashing business in the 800 block of North Lemoore Avenue regarding a robbery that had just occurred.

When officers arrived, they said they learned that a suspect walked into the business and waited for other customers to leave the store before he approached the clerk, showed her a handgun and told her it was a robbery.

Police said the suspect demanded an undisclosed amount of money, which the clerk gave him before he left the business.

Officials said LPD detectives began an investigation into this case and learned similar types of robberies had occurred in the cities of Corcoran and Reedley.

Investigators from each of these agencies began working together to identify the suspect in these cases as the pattern was the same in each robbery, they said.

After reviewing several hours of video from multiple sources and neighboring businesses, investigators said they were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle, which ultimately led to the identification of 38-year-old Dameond Keshon Young from Fresno. It was determined that Young was also on parole for robbery, they said.

A warrant was issued for Young’s arrest and with the assistance of the Fugitive Apprehension Team from the California Department of Corrections, police said he was taken into custody in the 700 block of Watermann Street in Fresno.

Authorities said Young was then booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of a warrant for armed robbery and his bail was set at $720,000. He is also being held on a parole violation.

Officials said this arrest was made possible due to the joint efforts and cooperation by investigators from the Reedley Police Department, Corcoran Police Department, Lemoore Police Department and agents from CDCR’s Fugitive Apprehension Team.
