CORCORAN — Corcoran Police Department officials said they are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday and struck multiple residences with gunfire.

Just before 5 p.m., Corcoran Police responded to the 2700 block of Olympic Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Upon arriving to the area, officers said they were waved down by subjects standing in a driveway. These subjects told officers that a red sedan had pulled up in front of the residence and two subjects stepped out with firearms and began shooting at them.

Officials said multiple rounds of gunfire were shot and struck the front and side of the residence, which was occupied by additional people. It was determined none of the victims were struck by the gunfire, they said.

Officers subsequently located and collected evidence at the scene.

Police said they later located a red sedan in the 25000 block of 7th Avenue, which they suspected of being involved in the shooting.

This vehicle was unoccupied when officers located it and officials said they seized this vehicle in order to process it for evidence.

A short while later, police said they were called to an apartment in the 900 block of 6 ½ Avenue, which was also struck by gunfire. They said nobody was injured at the apartment, which was also occupied at the time.

Authorities said they determined that stray rounds from the shooting on Olympic Avenue had struck and damaged the apartment on 6 ½ Avenue.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Corcoran Police Department at 992-5151, or to leave information on the confidential crime line at 992-3591.
