HANFORD — A man was arrested Thursday and two officers were injured after a high-speed chase, Hanford Police Department officials said.

Around 8:40 p.m., Hanford Police officers said they were dispatched to Walmart, 250 S. 12th Ave., regarding a theft that was occurring.

Officers said they were advised that the suspect was leaving Walmart in a red Toyota vehicle.

Upon arrival at Walmart, police said officers located the vehicle attempting to leave the parking lot. Officers attempted to block the vehicle from leaving the parking lot, but said the driver, later identified as 29-year-old Travell Hill, drove his vehicle over the sidewalk and onto 12th Avenue.

Officers pursued the vehicle, which officials said turned onto eastbound Highway 198.

Authorities said the vehicle traveled on eastbound Highway 198 at speeds of 130 mph in an attempt to evade officers.

Officers were able keep up with the vehicle, which eventually traveled to area of Highway 198 and southbound Highway 99 in Tulare County, officials said.

Police said Hill then turned onto southbound Highway 99, still traveling up to speeds of 130 mph.

While officers were pursuing Hill’s vehicle, officials said two HPD vehicles were involved in a traffic accident.

Hill continued on southbound Highway 99 until police said he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to roll over several times.

Police said Hill was later taken into custody by a HPD K-9 officer.

Authorities said both Hanford officers and Hill were transported to local hospitals for treatment for the injuries they sustained during the traffic accidents. They said both officers and Hill are expected to make full recoveries from their injuries.
