HANFORD — A Hanford man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and lewd acts with a child in two cases, Hanford Police Department officials said.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Hanford officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Ivy Street for a possible rape and child molestation case.
Officers identified the suspect as a Norteno gang member, 27-year-old Matthew Cabello.
Police said Cabello asked the victim to allow him to stay the night at her residence because he had nowhere to go. During the course of the night, they said Cabello would force himself upon the victim and rape her.
Officials said the victim learned of another underage victim and contacted the Hanford Police Department about them both.
Authorities said Cabello was eventually arrested on suspicion of rape, lewd acts with a child under 15, sodomy of a person under 16 and sodomy by force or violence. He was booked into the Kings County Jail.
