HANFORD — Hanford Police arrested a man Tuesday on suspicion of molesting a child over a period of time last year, officials said.

Robert Alvidrez, 60, was arrested on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14 years of age.

Police said the minor victim first reported the incident to family members and law enforcement on Sunday, May 5.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Alvidrez had molested the child over a period of time in early 2018, officers said.

Authorities said Alvidrez was booked into the Kings County Jail on Tuesday for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14.

Detectives said Alvidrez worked in the Building Maintenance department for the Hanford Elementary School District. However, they said the incident did not occur at the school and believe this was an isolated incident.
