NASL boy threat

A 13-year-old boy was arrested Thursday for allegedly making threats to his school via social media.

NAS LEMOORE — A 13-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly making threats to his school via social media.

On Thursday, agents with the Lemoore Naval Air Station, Navy Criminal Intelligence Service (NCIS) contacted the Kings County Sheriff's Office regarding a threats investigation.

Officials said NCIS agents received information that a 13-year-old male posted a photograph on SnapChat of a gun shop store front which had the words "Guns, Ammo, Rods, Reels" located above the store entrance and the words "be ready akers."

NCIS agents said they believed "akers" referred to the juvenile’s school, Akers Elementary, located on the Lemoore Naval Air Base.

KCSO detectives and NCIS agents began a joint investigation into the social media post.

During the course of the investigation, officials said the male juvenile was identified and contacted. They said the boy admitted to posting the photograph and showed investigators the post.

Officials said no weapons were located at the boy’s home. He was arrested and booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center, they said.
