HANFORD — A Hanford kindergarten teacher was arrested Tuesday on child abuse charges, police officials said.
Around 8 a.m., officers from the Hanford PD School Resource Officer Unit said they received information regarding an allegation of child abuse that occurred at Lee Richmond Elementary School.
Police said an investigation was immediately launched concerning a minor victim who sustained injuries through the teacher’s actions. They haven't said what exactly those actions were.
After investigating, officers placed 44-year-old Melissa Ediger —a kindergarten teacher at Lee Richmond — under arrest on suspicion of child abuse and intimidating/dissuading a witness. She was booked into Kings County Jail
Officials said the school district, staff and witnesses fully cooperated with the Police Department during the investigation.
