HANFORD — A former employee of the Metro 4 Cinema has been arrested after allegedly robbing the business on Super Bowl Sunday, Hanford Police officials said.
On Feb. 3, the department received a phone call from an employee at the Metro 4 in downtown Hanford indicating there had been a robbery at the business.
Around 1:30 p.m., police said a male went into the theater and demanded money. They said the suspect never showed a gun, but indicated that he had one.
Officials said the suspect knew several details about the operation of the theater that were not known to the general public, causing employees to suspect the robber was a former employee.
Officers said management from the theater searched Facebook and found 26-year-old Anthony Martinez, who was positively identified by the employee that was robbed. Martinez is a former employee of the Metro 4 Cinema, they said.
Martinez was located in custody at the Kings County Jail on Feb. 6. Officials said Lemoore Police Department officers had arrested him on an outstanding arrest warrant.
Police said Martinez was interviewed and an additional charge of robbery with a $60,000 bail was added.
Authorities said an undetermined amount of money was stolen during the robbery.
