On June 11, College of the Sequoias announced that the administration presented Chief Jack Amoroso for ratification to the COS Board of Trustees.

Amoroso has been an adjunct instructor in the COS police academy since 1986. Upon his retirement from the Avenal Police Department in 2015, Amoroso assisted in the coordinating of law enforcement classes and for the past year has shared responsibilities as the interim director of the program.

Amoroso graduated from the Tulare-Kings Basic Peace Officers Academy in 1979 and went on to serve 39 years in Kings County law enforcement with the Hanford Police Department, Kings County Sheriff’s Office and as chief of police for the city of Avenal, where he retired in April 2015.

Amoroso earned his associate of science degree in criminal justice from COS, and also an executive certificate and a management certificate from California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
