The Mighty Oak Chorus will kick-off the Wine & Chocolate Tasting on Friday with some holiday tunes.

HANFORD — Main Street Hanford and J.H. Tackett Marketing are ready to kick off the holiday season with the biggest Wine & Chocolate Tasting event in downtown Hanford.

The 18th annual event will be held this Friday, Dec. 7, from 6-9 p.m., where attendees can enjoy one of life’s most indulgent parings in 37 downtown businesses.

Michelle Brown, executive director of Main Street Hanford, said the event is meant to showcase downtown businesses and give guests an opportunity to spend quality time in downtown Hanford.

Brown hopes that the event will be an experience that will make guests want to come back to downtown again and again. She said the event is a great opportunity for the community to see what downtown Hanford has to offer.

“We hope that guests will see the wonderful products that our downtown businesses carry and will shop small this holiday season,” Brown said.

Ticket holders will start their tasting journey at FAST Café, inside FAST Plaza at 312 W. Seventh St., while listening to the holiday sounds of the Mighty Oak Chorus.

Event tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door, and can be purchased at Main Street Hanford; J.H. Tackett Marketing; Castaways Consignment;, Fatte Albert’s Pizza Co.; Hanford Antique Emporium; Lush Fine Wines; Candice & Co. Jewelers; or online at

Tickets will be redeemed on the night of the event between 5:45-7 p.m. for a wine glass and ten tasting tickets. A map of downtown Hanford will guide attendees to various businesses for a variety of fine wines and delectable chocolates.

During Wine & Chocolate Tasting, you can expect to enjoy live music, horse drawn wagon rides, carolers, appetizers and exquisite chocolates.

The decadent chocolates come from Sweet Shop, a family owned producer of hand-made chocolates including Red Velvet Cake truffles and Sea Salt Caramel truffles, and Torn Ranch, with their tantalizing sweets such as Espresso Caramel truffles and 24K Gold truffles.

An extensive list of special wines has been thoughtfully selected for the 18th year of this event. Everyone is sure to find a new personal favorite with over 70 wines including, Exitus Bourbon Barrel aged red wine, Grey Wolf Zinful Cab, Stokes’ Ghost Petite Sirah and Mastro Scheidt Sangiovese.

“You will definitely have trouble deciding which stores to visit first,” said a press release from Main Street Hanford. “These wines will not disappoint.”

Most wines that will be offered during the tasting will also be available for purchase at Lush Fine Wines.
