LEMOORE — Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino presented Relay for Life in Lemoore with a $54,810 check at its April community breakfast.
Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino raised $6,810 April 27 at its community breakfast buffet for Relay for Life in Lemoore. The check amount also included the $48,000 raised from bake sales and auctions throughout the year.
These donations helped in pushing the Tachi Palace and Santa Rosa Rancheria Tribe total of donations to the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life to over $500,600.
Breakfast attendees are encouraged to make a minimum donation of $5 and all contributions benefit the featured organization.
Tachi Palace General Manager Willie Barrios presented the check to Relay for Life representative Maria Lovera.
“On behalf of the Lemoore Relay for Life Community, I want to say thank you for joining the fight and that we are inspired by the dedication and generosity of Tachi Palace who answers the call to give again and again,” Lovera said.
Last year, the American Cancer Society helped Kings and Tulare County residents in several different ways — giving rides to patients to get to treatments, nights in a hotel related to treatment needs, donating wigs and other programs. In total, the American Cancer Society reports they helped 636 residents of the two counties.
The Relay for Life in Lemoore team has raised $82,402.33 - just shy of its $100,000 goal. Donations can still be made on the website (https://bit.ly/2jXxKhX).
This year’s relay for life was April 28 and Tachi Palace was the top company participating with $43,679 raised at the event.
Leprino foods and Tachi Palace were listed as sponsors for Relay for Life in Lemoore this year.
The next community breakfast is scheduled for May 25 to benefit Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Central California.
