LEMOORE — The Lemoore City Council has several items to vote on at its meeting Tuesday, including two new positions in the city.
The Council will vote to adopt salary ranges and adjust the 2018-2019 budget to find money to pay for two new positions, fire prevention inspector and information technology (IT) analyst.
The proposed fire prevention inspector would help in addressing the potential causes of fires before they happen.
The city reports that the Lemoore Volunteer Fire Department responded to 400 fire calls in 2017. City staff also report that as the age of buildings continues to increase and the size of the city grows, the fire department may have more fires to respond to if more efforts of prevention are not put into place.
The proposed salary range is $48,080 to $61,363. The city intends to have the fire prevention inspector position filled by the beginning of 2019.
The IT analyst position would replace the services the city contracts out to Kings County. The analyst would be responsible for the city's technology equipment from cell phones to computers and the police department's dispatch equipment.
The city reports this would save approximately $45,000 a year.
The salary range requested is $65,452 to $83,535. The city did not say when it plans to fill this position.
The Council also has several other action items on their agenda including:
- Creating a water deposit system for residents and users of the city’s water.
- Awarding a bid for creating a water tank at Well 7.
- Awarding a bid to test for a new well.
