The World Bank chief economist said the rise of automation has had a negligible impact on jobs at a global scale.

The World Bank instead stressed that the nature of work will evolve in the future. Although advances in automation are growing to manage more routine tasks, it is also creating different, more productive and creative jobs.

People are also relying on multiple 'gig' jobs instead of having a single job with the same employer for an extended period of time.
