Local city council races took shape last week with the close of the filing period for the Nov. 4 election.

Lemoore will have five candidates vying for two seats on its City Council. Two-term incumbent Willard Rodarmel will face off against Ray Madrigal, along with Navy veteran Michael Montalbano and agri-businessman Jeff Chedester. Madrigal was appointed on Aug. 5 to serve out the remaining months of Councilman John Gordon, who resigned in June.

City Clerk Janie Venegas said West Hills College Lemoore instructor Holly Blair filed on Friday afternoon, but her nomination paper still needed to be verified.

November’s election will also include run-off elections from the June primary. In the race for Kings County Board of Supervisors District 4, Lemoore farmer Craig Pedersen will face Army veteran Justin Bond. Voters will also choose between Kings County senior appraiser Renee Faber and Tulare County chief auditor-appraiser Kristine Lee to serve as the county’s next assessor/clerk-recorder/registrar of voters.

Other races to be decided this November include positions on the Kings County Board of Education, dozens of school boards, assorted special districts and hospital districts.
