EXETER - The Selma boys basketball team have started the Central Sequoia League play at 3-0 after defeating Exeter 78-35 on the road on Jan. 19.
Also, the Bears improved to 13-8 overall.
In the game against Exeter, Selma had three players score in double-digits including 26 points from Tiveon Stroud, 20 from William Pallesi and Junior Ramirez added 10.
Pallesi shot 60 percent from beyond the arc, going 6-of-10 in three-pointers. Stroud also had an efficient night shooting 9-of-11 for a field goal percentage of 82.
Not only did the Bears defeat Exeter, Selma was victorious over CVC at home on Jan. 16. The score was 83-43.
Ramirez, Pallesi and Stroud also had double-digit point totals against CVC. Ramirez scored 26 points, Pallesi had 22 and Stroud added 17.
Selma will go head-to-head against rival Kingsburg on the road on Friday, Jan. 26.
KINGSBURG - The Kingsburg boys basketball team dropped its sixth-straight game after losing 58-41 to CVC on the road Jan. 19.
Currently, the Vikings are 8-13 overall and 0-3 in CSL play.
Before Friday’s game, Kingsburg lost in a close one to Dinuba with the final score of 74-71.
The team will tip-off against Selma at home on Friday, Jan. 26.
KINGSBURG - The Kingsburg girls basketball team was victorious at home against CVC in a 58-55 win on Jan. 19.
Junior Shareen Purewal was instrumental for the Vikings as she made a three-pointer to give Kingsburg a lead with under one minute to go. That shot would be the difference in the game. Purewal had 15 points in the game.
Maddy Reed led all scorers with 19 points and Emily Fuentes added 11. Reed also had eight rebounds and Fuentes had six assists.
Two days before the Vikings defeated Dinuba 50-46 on the road. In this game, Reed had a team-high 17 points along with nine rebounds and Fuentes scored 13.
Currently, Kingsburg is 7-10 and 2-1 in CSL play.
The Vikings go on the road to face Selma on Friday, Jan. 26.
EXETER - The Selma boys soccer team lost its first Central Sequoia League game to Exeter on the road in a 4-3 final.
Before the loss, the Bears were on a three-game winning streak – all league games.
Currently, Selma is 12-5-3 and 3-1 in CSL play.
The team will be on the road against rival Kingsburg on Thursday, Jan. 25.
Selma defeated Kingsburg 2-1 in its first meeting on Jan. 15.
VISALIA - The Kingsburg boys soccer team dropped its seventh-straight game after a 3-1 road loss to CVC on Jan. 19.
It was the third game of the week for the Vikings and the team scored its first goal in over a month in a 2-1 loss against Selma on Jan. 15. Sophomore Jacob Torres was responsible for the lone goal of Kingsburg.
Currently, the Vikings are 3-12 overall and 0-4 in CSL play.
Kingsburg will face-off against Selma on Thursday, Jan. 25.
