KINGSBURG – The Kingsburg District Chamber of Commerce’s 52nd Annual Kingsburg Swedish Festival is May 17-19.
Festivities kick off with a pea soup and Swedish pancake dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 17. The day includes the crowning of the Swedish Festival queen.
Friday, May 18, events include a 4 p.m. public safety officer dress review and award ceremony. The Swedish smorgasbord is 5:30-7:30 p.m. Kingsburg High Ag Farm’s plant sale is 3-6 p.m.
Swedish pancakes will be served from 7-10 a.m. Saturday, May 19. The opening ceremony is 10 a.m. on Draper Street in the downtown. The grand parade is 10:30 a.m. Crafts and Swedish entertainment will be ongoing from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Dala Horse Trot 10K and two mile walk/run is 7-9 a.m. on May 19. Organizer Scott Newton said a large number of runners have already signed up and strongly suggests runners sign up ahead of time to secure a spot. Online pre-registration is available at https://bit.ly/2jUAFId.
“We had 719 total runners and walkers last year. We are 284 ahead of last year,” Newton said.
