KINGSBURG – Kingsburg High competed in the AAA division at the Visalia Lions 37th Annual Marching Band Invitational Oct. 14 and came home with multiple awards.
“I am very proud of the students and our marching band staff for the tremendous work they are doing,” Kingsburg High band teacher Mike Schofield said.
Schofield reported the band won grande sweepstakes and thus bested all the divisions in the competition. Their awards included best music, best visual performance, best general effect and best color guard. They also won field show sweepstakes, field trip music sweepstakes, parade sweepstakes and parade music sweepstakes.
Schofield reports the band also just competed at the Fresno State Sierra Cup Classic on Oct. 21. “They won first place in the AAA division and we advanced to finals were they placed seventh overall. They also won best music, best visual performance, best general effect and best color guard.”
The Kingsburg High band’s next performance will be at the first Kingsburg Viking Classic on Nov. 11 at the high school.
This year’s field show is called fractal which is a geometric figure based off of the Fibonacci sequence of a repeated pattern.
