Kingsburg concerts: Starts June 21

The Kingsburg Community Band will start its summer concert series on June 21 at Memorial Park. Food vendors set up at 5 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m.

KINGSBURG – Kingsburg’s 2018 Summer Band Concerts begin June 21 and as has been the trend lately, each concert will have a different guest soloist and theme each week, Director Dale Engstrom said.

Guitarist Mike Dana will be the first guest soloist. He is jazz instructor at Fresno City College and leads his own jazz trio, “After Dinner Mints.”

The concerts are every Thursday for six weeks and run until July 26 at Memorial Park at the corner of Sierra Street and 18th Avenue. Food vendors will set up at 5 p.m. and each concert starts at 8 p.m. Crowds of up to 1,000 attend and concert-goers may bring their own chairs and picnic blankets, or take advantage of the benches already at Memorial Park.

Admission is free and sponsorships are available. Contact the Kingsburg District Chamber of Commerce at 897-1111 or email Director Kaitlyn Groft at for details.

“Feel free to check out some of our previous concert at,” Engstrom said.

The Kingsburg Summer Band started in 1887 and is one of the longest running community bands.
