Upon entering the garden you are greeted by the Blue Star Memorial which was sponsored by the Hanford Garden Club. It recognizes all men and women who had served, were serving, or would serve in the Armed Services of the United States. We are proud that this Blue Star Memorial is located in the Children's Storybook Garden & Museum for all to see and learn about its significance.
There are two new buildings in progress; the restrooms and the Stone Cottage which is a multipurpose/ classroom to be enjoyed by many. You can also see over 120 Campanula plants in pink, white, blue and lavender everywhere you look! Spring plantings of veggies: carrots, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, beets, radish, turnips, strawberries, zucchini, cucumbers, green beans, onions, leeks, collard greens, kale, Swiss chard, green peas, and more can be found in the edible section of the garden along with an entire orchard of second year Easy Pick and dwarf fruit trees!
The Peter Rabbit Garden is in full spring bloom as well as the Topiary Garden (a house made of wire with plants crawling up the sides) and the ABC Garden (all plants are divided by the first letter of their names) are fun for everyone to see.
Also on display is the newly finished Vincent Van Gogh house with its beautiful stained glass sunflower window and garden full of blooming sunflowers and other yellow and orange beauties. Before leaving the garden be sure and notice all the donated trees and plants and the bricks that have been dedicated to loved ones. You too can be part of this wonderful garden through your donations and memberships which allow access to the garden and related activities.
