Shoemaker: Wins FFA scholarship

SELMA – Selma High senior Sierra Shoemaker was awarded the $1,000 Jaimie Lynne Pettey Memorial Scholarship at the 91st California FFA Leadership Conference in Anaheim on April 27. More than 6,500 students cheered as she accepted the award.

Shoemaker is the daughter Brandon and Renee Shoemaker and is a member of the Selma FFA Chapter. She has been a chapter officer, sectional officer and regional officer, participated in Best Informed Greenhand, Job Interview and Vine Pruning, served as a California FFA National Convention delegate and attended the Sacramento Leadership Experience.

Shoemaker will attend California State University, Fresno, to study agriculture education and animal science. Her career goal is to become an ag teacher.
