Richard Figueroa wins Super 32

Richard Figueroa won the 113 pound title at the Super 32 Tournament held Oct. 27-28 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Figueroa is entering his sophomore season at Selma High School. 

Richard Figueroa II, Selma High wrestler, was the winner of the Super 32 in the 113-pound division. The Super 32 tournament was held Oct. 27-28 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Figueroa defeated Greg Diakomihalis from New York 5-4 to capture the title.

Figueroa opened the tournament on Oct. 27 with a 15-0 technical fall victory over L. Gagliardo from New Jersey. He then defeated T. Capul from North Carolina 6-0. Figueroa beat H. Adrian from Massachusetts by an 8-2 decision.

In the round of 16, Figueroa defeated T. Spratley from New York; he then beat N. Nardone from New Jersey by pin fall. In the semifinals, Figueroa earned a 5-1 decision over L. Agin from Ohio.

The Super 32 is considered one of the best preseason wrestling tournaments in the nation.
