Selma and Kingsburg baseball players will wear their high school uniforms one last time.
In the 2019 City/County All-Star game, Selma’s Ethan Wenter and Ryan Naranjo and Kingsburg's Daniel Ingrao were selected to play in the event at Chukchansi Park on Friday.
The game will showcase the top seniors in the Central Valley for one night in the Grizzlies’ home ballpark.
Wenter, Naranjo, and Ingrao were selected to the county team roster, which features the top talent from schools in Fresno County and surrounding areas. The city team will feature the top talent from schools located in Fresno.
All three guys were solid contributors for their team this season.
Wenter had a solid season on the mound and at the plate. As a pitcher, Wenter had a 6-1 record with a 1.22 ERA and threw the most innings for the Bears. Wenter pitched 63 innings and allowed a total of 11 earned runs and had a .204 opposing batting average. He also struck out 59 batters, which was also a team-high.
As a batter, Wenter had .349 batting average with 13 RBIs and led the team in triples at four.
Naranjo was Selma’s starting catcher for majority of the team’s games this season. At the plate, Naranjo batted .305 with 15 RBIs and a team-high in doubles at eight.
Ingrao, who was the Vikings catcher this season, had a .298 average with 14 RBIs and a home run. Ingrao also had the second most hits on the team at 25.
The all-star game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
